Begin your morning with a cup of coffee… jelly

A lot of people begin their morning with a cup of coffee. But instead of having boring hot or iced coffee, why not spice things up by having your daily coffee fix in jelly form? Possibilities are endless once you have the base. You can have it with a splash of cream or milk, add whipped cream, put the jelly in a latte and drink it with a straw. The sky is the limit. This is how I enjoy my cuppa  jelly. I make a batch before I go to sleep and by the time I wake up, the jelly is ready to use.

This recipe was inspired by Cooking with Dog’s coffee jelly recipe.

You will need:
250 mL brewed black coffee
2 tsp gelatin powder
1 packet splenda (or any sweetener of your choice)
Splash of milk/cream
Sprinkle of cinnamon/cocoa powder

I grind my own coffee. I used two tablespoons of mysterious coffee beans I found in my cupboard. I have no idea what kind they are, but they smelled nice after I finished grinding them, so that’s all that matters.

I put my freshly ground beans into my dripping station.

Moisten your grounds first with hot water. Then slowly add the water in a circular motion. I actually have no idea what I’m doing but I heard somewhere that you need to moisten the grounds before commencing dripping.

Add sweetener of your choice and two tsp of gelatin powder. Mix thoroughly and pour into a container. Wait until it cools, cover it up and then save until ready for use. It’s that easy.

Cut your jelly, gently ease it out of the container and put into a lovely cup.

If you’re feeling a little naughty, add a splash of cream. If you want to keep it a little healthier, add a splash of milk. Garnish with a sprinkling of cinnamon or cocoa powder. I used cinnamon.

Voilà! Now you can spice up your morning routine.

Until next time! 🙂
